Vintage Bakelite Bunch of Cherries Dangling Bar Pin. This 1940s brooch features eight dangling carved cherries of bright red bakelite suspended on plastic coated stems. There are also five green celluloid leaves. All leaves and cherries dangle from a red celluloid chain. Leigh Leshner's book "Collecting Art Plastic Jewelry" includes this brooch on page 26.
Pin stem with roll over safety is riveted to the back of the red bar pin. Tests positive as Bakelite with Simichrome test.
Era: WWII, 1940s
Material: Bakelite and Celluloid Plastics
Measurement: 3 1/2" long and 4 1/2" wide (with all cherries spread out). Each Cherry is 21.5 mm.
In Very Good Condition, with very minor surface scratches consistent with age and some wear to the plastic coated stems.
