Vintage oval shell cameo pin pendant in 800 silver mounting, prong set in a scalloped bezel with marcasite accents. The shell cameo is very finely hand carved, with crisp, clear detail to face, up-swept hair, and ruffled neck. The woman is a lovely cream shell, while the background is a pretty peachy pink. The slightly upturned nose of the portrait indicates the cameo was carved after 1920.
The 800 setting features an early safety catch on the pin stem that dates the piece to the early 1930s. The presence of a bail make it possible to wear this piece as a necklace pendant.
