Antique Mother of Pearl Hand Mourning Brooch. This hand carved pin was made about 1880 and the pointing finger would traditionally be worn pointing us, as it is said to symbolize the reward of the righteous or the confirmation of life after death. The Victorians used symbols extensively, especially regarding love and loss. The carved hand has a nicely detailed cuff that is accented by two gold colored wire bands. Finished with a C clasp.

CONDITION: Very Good Antique Condition, with no chips, cracks, or other damage noted. Pin mechanism works fine.
