Vintage Mexican Silver Art Glass Dragons Breath Ring. Made in the 1940s before the institution of the Eagle Mark, this ring has a lovely art glass cabochon of foil backed harlequin glass, intended to mimic fire opal. The 17.25 mm X 13.25 mm cabochon is bezel set on a flat frame with applied scrolls, fans, and dew drops. A pretty piece of early Mexican silver jewelry.
ERA: Art Deco, 1920s
METAL/MATERIALS: Sterling Silver, Natural Amethyst, Marcasites
STONE: Natural Amethyst measuring 17.1 mm X 9.2 mm X 6.2 mm and weighing approximately 5 CT
HALLMARKS/HISTORY: No marks, but tests as 925 sterling silver. The mark was likely removed in a previous sizing.
MEASUREMENTS: Head of ring measures approximately 1 1/4" X 3/4" (or 31.75 mm X 19 mm). Shank measures 1.5 mm wide at reverse.
RING SIZE: 4 1/2
WEIGHT: 6.2 grams
CONDITION: In very good vintage condition, with minor abrasions to the facets of the amethyst, and the sign of a previous sizing at the reverse of the shank. There are no missing marcasites. We have left
