Antique Edwardian Carved Shell Lady Cameo Brooch with 14K White Gold Filigree Frame with Doves. The shell cameo is very finely hand carved, with crisp, clear detail to face, up-swept hair with floral accents, and drape with more flowers. The woman is a lovely cream shell with natural orange spots on the draped gown, while the background is a pretty rose pink. The slightly upturned nose of the portrait indicates the cameo was carved after 1920.
This hand carved Italian shell cameo has an etched signature on the reverse, but we are unable to make out the letters. We provided several pictures of the back, in the hopes that you may be able to identify the artist.
The 14K setting has hearts shaped filigree pattern with accents of flying birds. The piece is finished with safety typical of the period. The presence of a swivel bail makes it possible to wear this piece as a necklace pendant.

METAL/MATERIAL: 14K White Gold and Carved Shell
HALLMARKS/HISTORY: Stamped 14K on safety. There is a maker's mark on the inside of the bezel that we are unable to decipher, as well as a 14K mark.
CONDITION: Very Good Vintage Condition, with minor age wear and patina appropriate to age. The bezel is tight, cameo is intact and free from cracks, and pin and pendant mechanisms both function perfectly.
SIZE/MEASUREMENTS: 2 inch x 1 5/8 inch.
