14K Vintage Linde Green Star Sappphire Modernist Ring - Yellow Gold Lab Created Sapphire Brutalist Ring - Mid Century Modern Jewelry -

Vintage Modern 14K Gold Coral Branch Linde Mint Green Star Sapphire Ring. Made about 1960, this ring features a 4 CT oval light green lab created star sapphire made by Linde. The modernist ring resembles branch coral and has a six prong raised head for the cabochon. The ring is marked L* 14K. The L* indicates the piece was made by or for the Linde Star Corp.

The head measures 12 mm x 12 mm and is 11.75 mm high. The shank tapers to 2.6 mm at the reverse and the ring is a size 7.

In very good vintage condition, with minor surface wear and no damage of any sort noted.

We recently obtained a collection of rings from the estate of a long-term Union Carbide employee. This ring if from that purchase. The Union Carbide company created a number of synthetic stones in the period from 1940 -1980. Among their production were Linde Star Sapphires, Linde Star Rubies, Linde Hydrothermal Emeralds, Lab-Created Amethysts, and Synthetic Yttrium Aluminum Garnets (a diamond substitute). Union Carbide employees were able to purchase jewelry containing these stones through the company and this gentleman bought his wife dozens of rings over the decades.
