Antique Gold Filled Engraved Locket Pendant Necklace with Daguerreotype. This sweet early Victorian locket is elaborately decorated on front with embossing and engraving. The locket has a bale like that on a pocket watch. And inside the locket is what I believe to be a daguerreotype of a dapper gentleman. The locket measures 3/4" X 1 3/8" (including bale) and is suspended from an 17 1/2" belcher chain necklace finished with thumb ring. In good vintage condition, with minor wear to finish and some dents. Hinge opens easily and locket snaps securely shut.
ERA: Victorian, 1850s
METAL/MATERIAL: 10K Gold Filled (tested)
HALLMARK/HISTORY: Unmarked
MEASUREMENTS: 3/4 inch wide and 1 3/8 inch tall including bale
WEIGHT: 7.2 grams
CONDITION: Good vintage condition, with minor wear to finish and some dents (likely from a teething baby long ago. Hinge opens easily and locket snaps securely shut. Previously owned and worn.
