Antique Lady's 10K Gold Filled Guard Chain. This simple muff or lorgnette chain dates from the late Victorian era. Chains like this were worn by women to hold a watch, lorgnette, fur muff, locket, or other pendant. If used with a watch, the very long chain would have been worn wrapped around a belt or tucked into a waistband, with the watch dangling.
The chain is 50" long and is approximately 1.5 mm in diameter. It is finished with a dog clip swivel clasp marked H & H. This chain is in Good Antique Condition, with minor surface wear commensurate with age. This chain will be beautiful doubled, wrapped and worn with your favorite locket, fob, or watch!
