Pair of Vintage Carved Mexican Green Onyx Aztec Mask Brooches. The thick stone masks are carved of dyed green calcite. The hand carved stones are set on solid sterling silver backs with four prongs that wrap. Each brooch measures 1 1/8" X 7/8" and is finished with a C clasp. Made in the 1940s, the pins are stamped on the reverse: Sterling Mexico. This piece dates from the era before the eagle mark system was adopted, so pre-1948. In good vintage condition, with lovely patina, one stone slightly loose against its backing, and minor bruises to the stones.
