Lot of 2 Pair Vintage Renoir Copper Modernist Earrings. This lot includes two pair of vintage Renoir copper earrings, one abstract leaf shapes with clips and modernist "tulip" forms with screw backs. The larger pair is 3/4" X 1 3/4" and the smaller set measures 3/4" X 3/4".
Renoir Jewelry was founded by Jerry Fels in Los Angeles in 1946. Fels studied at both The Arts Student League and The National Academy of design before serving as a fighter pilot in WWII. His jewelry was bold and modern in style, perfectly reflecting the modernism that was sweeping the country. He also created Matisse Jewelry, which added enamel elements to the copper that distinguished Renoir pieces.
In good vintage condition, with minor scuffs to the finish and no other damage noted.
