Vintage 800 Silver Carved Bovine Bone Face Ring. Occasionally, a vintage piece is a bit of a mystery and this is one! This vintage ring of 800 silver bears the assay marks of Egypt before 1946. However, the carved bovine (cow) bone face has a distinctly Japanese feeling akin to a Noh mask. Is this actually an Egyptian carving or is this a fascinating marriage of cultures? The dimensional carved face of bovine bone is set with six claw prongs in a leaf and rope twist bezel atop a split shank ring. The size 7 1/2 ring is in good condition with possible loss to the carved eyes and carving slightly loose in mounting.
ERA: Mid 20th Century, 1940s
METAL/MATERIAL: 800 Silver, Carved Bovine Cow Bone
HALLMARK/HISTORY: Maker's marks for Egypt, pre-1946
MEASUREMENTS: Head measures 18.1 mm X 18.2 mm. Shank measures 2.7 mm at reverse.
RING SIZE: 7.5
WEIGHT: 5.7 grams
CONDITION: Good vintage condition with possible loss to the carved eyes and face slightly loose in mounting. Previously owned and worn.
