Vintage Alaskan 14K and Placer Gold Opal Mosaic Necklace. What an unusual pendant! This round pendant features a cabin and trees as well as a flashy northern lights band of gold overlaid on a mosaic of natural opal fragments on a black onyx ground. The colorful flashes in the opal mosaic are reminiscent of the phenomenon of the aurora borealis, or northern lights. The bezel of the 14K pendant is further decorated with nuggets of placer gold, which is typically around 19-20 karat. Because Alaska is known for both Northern Lights and gold mining, this pendant is the perfect memento of a trip to the state. The 1 inch diameter pendant is currently suspended from an 18" 14K gold filled chain. The piece is in excellent vintage condition with no damage noted.
