Antique Gutta Percha 14K Gold Plated Mechanical Pencil, Vulcanite Retractable Pencil, Victorian Telescoping Pencil, Collectible Pen Pencil
Antique Gutta Percha and 14K Gold Plated Retractable Mechanical Pencil. Made about 1900, this beautiful little writing implement has a body made of gutta percha, a hard rubber also called vulcanite. The pencil is capped with 14K gold covered metal with elaborate scrolled engraving. The pencil telescopes by twisting one end, while the opposite end cap screws off to reveal a chamber for pencil leads. There is no lead present with this piece. It is in good condition, but does have a crack in the body .

CONDITION: Good vintage condition, with a crack to the gutta percha body and some surface wear, consistent with age. Previously owned and used.
MEASUREMENT: Pencil is 3 1/4 inches long closed and 4 1/2 inches opened. It is 1/4 inch in diameter
