Vintage 14K White Gold Filigree Ring with .75 CT Old European Cut Diamond Solitaire Ring. Bezel set in a white gold filigree mounting with squarish head, this Old European Cut Diamond has the rounded girdle of modern cuts, but the deep crown and pavilion of an Old Mine Cut, along with a large open culet. It has a nice color (G) and sparkles brilliantly. The diamond is an I3 in clarity and does have dark inclusions which break several crown facets. These are, of course, original to the diamond and do not necessarily present a risk to the stone. This clarity grade allows me to price this ring economically, making this a wonderful "starter" old cut diamond ring in a larger stone size. The ring shank has been previously replaced and is a bit thicker and stronger than typically seen on rings of these era.

I just got back from having a purchase verification done on this ring by a GIA Graduate Gemologist and appraiser. This ring is, indeed, an Old European Cut diamond weighing a bit more than Heirloom Finds had it listed for. Everything checked out and he was very impressed with the ring. He thought the diamond was probably cut in the 1880s, based on the cutting technique used. Although it had one inclusion, it was just carbon and didn’t affect the integrity of the diamond at all. He also commented that it was unusual to see an OEC diamond this white, as most have some yellow in them. I couldn’t be more thrilled with this ring and with Jeanne for such great service.
