Victorian Square Locket Fob Pendant on 20" Chain Necklace. Made about 1900, this locket may have originally been used as a watch fob, but we have added a brand new gold filled chain to make this a wonderful pendant necklace. The locket is set on point, creating a lovely silhouette, and is framed by fancy wired work on the top two sides. The hinged locket has beautiful neoclassical engraving on the front. It opens to reveal two photos that appear to be from the 1920s. The images are in the original photo frames, although the celluloid covers are absent. Marked S.B. & L. Co. for S & B Lederer Co. on each of the photo frames. The locket is suspended from a new 20" long 14K gold filled rolo chain. In very good vintage condition, with very minor surface wear and no damage noted. The hinge and clasp both function properly. What a sweet gift this will make, as you can add your own special images.

HALLMARKS/HISTORY: The locket is marked S.B. & L. Co. for S & B Lederer Co. founded in Providence, Rhode Island in 1878. The company later also operated in on Fifth Ave in NYC and seems to have ceased operations about 1931. The chain's spring ring clasp is stamped with "14/20 GF" and the hallmark of the Garlan Chain Company, a Massachusetts-based chain manufacturer.
CONDITION: In very good vintage condition, with original photo frames present.
MEASUREMENTS: Chain measures 20" long; Locket measures 1 3/8" X 15/16"
